Weekly Photo Challenge: Threshold

This weeks weekly photo challenge from Daily Post is Threshold.

“A threshold is a point of entering; that point just before a new beginning — that split-second moment in time, full of anticipation.”

On the threshold of the journey

My son is perceiving two thresholds in this frame. Having just turned 6 years old, he is on the threshold of beginning school life and at that very instant was very much anticipating the train arriving and beginning his journey.

Location: Singapore
Camera: Olympus E-PM2, M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 (1/80, f/2.0, ISO 1000)

  3. Great submission for this week’s theme. Within a single frame, you truly captured that moment’s anticipation towards a new path in life. And just love the overall tones and shadows in the photograph.

    • Thank you for your kind comment. As you probably know, with kid-photos it’s a matter of having the camera handy and on them at the right instant, which is mostly purely dumb luck.

The tones and colour are straight out of the camera, but with some general contrast improvement and a slight vignette applied in Lightroom. Though not always perfect, the E-PM2 is often pretty good bang for the buck.
