Portrait of a local wet market

Wet markets in Singapore are often one of the major pillars of community life. They sell a variety of meat, produce, flowers, snacks, house plants and other house hold goods. They are often located very near food centres.

Singapore has no shortage of western style supermarkets but for a very large number of people the wet markets are considered fresher and cheaper and a good place to catch up on gossip.

I’ve been living in the same neighbourhood for about 3 years. The photos here were all taken in and around my local wet market on a Sunday morning.
