Over the weekend, after dropping my lovely wife off to her work, place I decided to do some street roaming and see if any photos could be had. Usually on the weekend my image collector is my X100s due to its well known properties of low weight and excellent image quality.
Stalking the busy streets of Singapore with an iconic camera at the ready does wonders for immersing you in the role of street photographer. Typically when doing this I’m not so much looking for portraits as I am trying to find what I feel are fundamentally local scenes. Something that goes beyond what a fleeting tourist would stop to capture.
I’ve been living in Singapore for 8 years. There is a lot of impressive architecture here, some of which really is worth photographing. But, for the majority of us on this island, the buildings are really just the back drop to Singapore, not Singapore itself.
